Bathrooms

Innovation Construction Company, Inc. was asked to update this master bedroom bath in Duxbury. We encountered a real challenge here because our clients desired a built-in place steam shower enclosure that would be large enough for two people, and we only had a modest fifty-four square foot area to work with. Moreover, the remodeling had to include enough space for the cabinetry and sink area. We were further limited because the work had to be accomplished without disrupting any walls outside the bath area.

We began by proposing to our clients a number of mock locations for this that would include these new units. After several demonstrations, we were able to determine exactly what would make them happy as well as comfortable. We began by eliminating the traditional entry door unit to the bath and replacing it with a concealed pocket-style door unit. This allowed enough floor and wall space to be recovered so that we could build a corner steam shower unit enclosure for two that also included enough space for the cabinetry and sink area in the opposite corner.

We then removed all the inside walls and, while the frame components were accessible we removed the old technology style window and replaced it with a new high performance glass and maintenance free exterior window unit. We then installed full surround ceramic tile walls that were offset with whimsical water creature accent tiles, and continued to compliment the area by installing solid maple vanity cabinets with cream marble tops. We concealed the heater duct under the vanity to further compliment this space. While vacationing abroad, our clients purchased the solid brass accessory products such as the paper holder, towel bars and glass shelving, and we installed these items. The water closet, sink, and faucet are Kohler products.

Upon completion of the renovation, note that the new custom steam shower enclosure for two includes two showerheads, two in wall pressure balanced control valves and several built in tiled niches. The seating area in the shower is cream marble to match the vanity top.
